Day 55

Day 55 Reading – Numbers Chapters 3-4

When it’s time to break camp, Aaron and his sons will enter and take down the screening curtain, and they will cover the chest containing the covenant with it.  Numbers 4:5 CEB

The Israelites have been in this same spot for about a year and now they are ready to start out on their journey to the Promised Land.  Time to Get marching …

But wait … We need to get organized.

The Levites will be in charge of the tabernacle, which is the tent that serves as God’s dwelling place while everyone is travelling to the Promised Land. And God is very specific about how this place is handled.  The penalty for disobedience is death.

But God doesn’t just have guidelines for the tent. God’s got something to say about every aspect of the community and how they will travel.  God has the details of the move planned out for the people.

Gotta love a God that is steps ahead of us … preparing us long before the problem arises.

God’s got us covered.  And once all this is settled, the Israelites begin what will be a long march through the wilderness on the way to the Promised Land.

I am a United Methodist Pastor and have the privilege of serving as the Senior Pastor for the church of my childhood. I preach in a place I once was an acolyte. I love to preach, but more importantly I love to teach. I firmly believe that Faith Matters and should affect how we live. This blog is a place where I come to share the randomness that is life and faith ... and the intersection of the two.
