Day 94

Today’s Reading – Judges Chapters 13-15

Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, so the LORD delivered them into the hands of the Philistines for forty years.  Judges 13:1

Samson led Israel for twenty years in the days of the Philistines. Judges 15:20

samsonSamson was more than the guy who fell in love with Delilah. Samson single handedly took on the Philistines who had been brutally ruling over the Israelites for 40 years.

Samson was a one man wrecking crew.

God used him in a mighty way to bring peace to the land.

After all, who would want to stand against him?

But that won’t keep the cycle from continuing as it always has.

The view that God was leading them through Samson will become the view that Samson is leading them and God is not needed.

How often we trade in our prayers of thanksgiving to God for celebrations of all that we have done and accomplished.

Be careful in how you view your victories.

And be mindful that sometimes it is easier to see God in our defeats.

I am a United Methodist Pastor and have the privilege of serving as the Senior Pastor for the church of my childhood. I preach in a place I once was an acolyte. I love to preach, but more importantly I love to teach. I firmly believe that Faith Matters and should affect how we live. This blog is a place where I come to share the randomness that is life and faith ... and the intersection of the two.
