Day 102

Today’s Reading – I Samuel Chapters 15-17
David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”  I Samuel 17:26 NIV

youth.jpgIt seems that the young are always the first to speak their minds. They aren’t worried about how others will perceive them. They are more considered for principles and are willing to take a stand. They speak up and we, who are older and wiser, say, “Give it time, you will understand, you are too young to understand.”

David was the only one who understood that it would not take an army or even a single foot soldier to defeat the enemy.

No, what was needed, they already had – The Living God!

We could use that reminder today.

We could use a little youthful bravato in our faith – If God be for us – who could be against us?

I am a United Methodist Pastor and have the privilege of serving as the Senior Pastor for the church of my childhood. I preach in a place I once was an acolyte. I love to preach, but more importantly I love to teach. I firmly believe that Faith Matters and should affect how we live. This blog is a place where I come to share the randomness that is life and faith ... and the intersection of the two.
