Day 225

Today’s Reading – Jeremiah 23-25

“But you did not listen to me,” declares the LORD, “and you have aroused my anger with what your hands have made, and you have brought harm to yourselves.”
Jeremiah 25:7
The nation had long been living in sin, but now the consequences of their actions were coming to bear upon them.
That is thing with sin – eventually it brings suffering.
In the short term, sin can be fun and seemingly without consequences, but truth is sin leads to suffering for all people no matter who they are or where they are – God will not be made to look silly.
That is a tough lesson to learn.
God is full of grace, but that does not mean that there are not consequences for our behavior.

I am a United Methodist Pastor and have the privilege of serving as the Senior Pastor for the church of my childhood. I preach in a place I once was an acolyte. I love to preach, but more importantly I love to teach. I firmly believe that Faith Matters and should affect how we live. This blog is a place where I come to share the randomness that is life and faith ... and the intersection of the two.

  1. Amen, Pastor Rodney! God is looking on us today and our country–He will get tired before long and we will be judged by a Holy God! I cannot recall in the history of America when so little respect is shown for the office of President–I believe God put him in that office for HIS reason–maybe to give America one more chance! Thank you for your blogs on the daily readings!
