Day 275

Today’s Reading – Matthew 1 and Luke 2

Nearby shepherds were living in the fields, guarding their sheep at night. The Lord’s angel stood before them, the Lord’s glory shone around them, and they were terrified.
The angel said, “Don’t be afraid! Look! I bring good news to you—wonderful, joyous news for all people.  Luke 2:8-10 CEB

The Good News is goods news.

The news of the coming of Christ came to people like you and I.

The shepherds were outcasts.

The shepherds were the workers.

The shepherds were not part of the elite.

The shepherds were not the news makers.

The shepherds were forgettable.

I think that was God’s point.

God came to be with us – be with everyone.

This may be the Top coming down, but in action this would be a raising up the lowly to the top – the meek, the humble . . . will be lifted up.

No matter where you are in life, God has come to that place.

I am confident of that because God told the shepherds!

He could have told anyone …. even you!

I am a United Methodist Pastor and have the privilege of serving as the Senior Pastor for the church of my childhood. I preach in a place I once was an acolyte. I love to preach, but more importantly I love to teach. I firmly believe that Faith Matters and should affect how we live. This blog is a place where I come to share the randomness that is life and faith ... and the intersection of the two.
